The official venue and hotel for the CIBJO Congress 2015 is the Sheraton da Bahia, a member of the Starwoods Group, which is located in downtown Salvador, surrounded by a series of major museums and less than 3 kilometers to the northeast of the Pelourinho, the city’s historic center and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To the south are Porto da Barra Beach, the marina and Farol da Barra Lighthouse.

Opened in May 1952 in the presence of the vice president of Brazil and the governor of the State of Bahia, the hotel is today considered an architectural masterpiece, and it contains some of the most outstanding examples of Brazilian art, including the giant mural “Regional Festivals, by Genearo de Carvalho, a native of Salvador who is considered one of Brazil’s great modernists.

The building was modernized and restored in 2010, with the architectural firms André Sá Francisco Mota Arquitetos and Foguel Reis Sá Arquitetura accepting the challenge to upgrade the facility to the standard required for a luxury hotel, while preserving its historic features and iconic character.

The hotel’s conference facilities, which are located on the first floor, will serve as the venue of the CIBJO Congress, including the Gala Dinner of May 5.

Congress participants can book hotel rooms at a special rate of 304.50 Brazilian real (approximately U.S.$ 115) per night, including tax and breakfast. Internet access will be included for multiple devices throughout the hotel and conference center at no extra charge.

To obtain the special CIBJO Congress rate, the hotel rooms must be booked through the CIBJO Congress website. To access the hotel booking form, CLICK HERE.
